Organizer: Solidarity Centre Foundation
The Foundation was established in late 1999. The founders were: Lech Wałęsa, Archbishop Tadeusz Gocłowski, NSZZ "Solidarność", the City of Gdańsk, the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Lech Wałęsa Institute, the Gdansk region of NSZZ "Solidarność", the Intercompany Committee of NSZZ "Solidarność" at Gdansk Shipyard PLC, Gdańsk Shipyard PLC
The Foundation aims to provide educational, scientific and cultural activities, mainly documenting and spreading knowledge about Solidarity movement and its impact on the development of democracy in the world, as well as promoting the achievements of anti-communist and independence movements in Poland after 1945.
The Foundation executes its aims through creating educational programmes, organizing exhibitions abroad, but most of all through stimulating youth communities inviting them to cooperate together on activities dedicated to preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.

Gdansk University of Technology is a modern technical educational institution with a centennial tradition, the oldest and the biggest scientific technical institution in the Pomeranian region. The history of this historic campus mingles with the latest technologies, changing its shape in accordance with the development and needs of economics and global interdependence.
Gdansk University of Technology was established in 1904. In the first years the university could accommodate 600 students. Today, the University provides education for more than twenty thousand students. Courses offered on nine faculties lead to BSc, MSc, PhD or DSc degrees, as well as provide postgraduate and MBA studies. The academy collaborates with more than 80 foreign universities and many research and science institutes.
